Drama, Dance and Singing Classes in Bristol East MERGED - BRISTOL KEYNSHAM June 2015

Welcome to Stagecoach Bristol East MERGED - BRISTOL KEYNSHAM June 2015

Performing Arts School for 4-18 years.
At Stagecoach Bristol East we are passionate about Performing Arts for children and young people. We believe that though training in dance, drama and singing we are not only providing skills for performing in the theatre, we are providing skills for life! Every term we begin a journey of exploration and education in the Performing Arts based on a theme. At the end of term we produce a demo of work that parents and friends can come and enjoy. All children from age four years enjoy a rich variety of fun lessons in the three disciplines thirty six weeks of the year, they make great friends and have access to superb opportunities with first rate teaching. Once a year we do a Presentation; a full scale technically supported 'show'. We never charge for costumes or tickets and there are no hidden charges - this is all part of the Stagecoach experience!

Latest News from Stagecoach Bristol East!

Summer Term Activities
This term we look forward once again to singing at the Keynsham Music Festival.  This popular family event runs all week running up the final Sunday 4th July when we will be performing on the Community Stage.  WE will be watching our young Early Stages take the floor as well as our most experienced Stage 3's.  Come and join us on the 4th July at 1.50pm and show your support for our fantastic students!

Next term...SHOW TERM!
We are delighted to announce that Stagecoach has gone into partnership with Birmgingham Stage Company, the team behind the Horrible Histories stage shows, to create an exclusive-to-Stagecoach show: Groovy Greeks. We will be delving into the lives of this antiquated culture with usual larks and fun usually associated with this very popular brand. The show has gone down a storm with Stagecoaches and their audiences all over the country and we can't wait to see the script. Watch this space...

Student Success
Congratulations to students Evie and Scarlett who both successfully auditioned at Bristol Zoo for their new summer music video! There were many children there on the day from stage schools all over Bristol and they obviously did a great job. The video was filmed in half term and we look forward to seeing it online very soon.

LAMDA
LAMDA exam training has begun again with record number of students.  Our wonderful tutor Nanette has been excited to meet the new students and we have just finished assigning each student to a suitable grade. Previous results have almost all been Distinctions and high Merits.  We look forward to more great results this year.

OUR SCHOOL
Bristol East started as a performing arts school in Totterdown a few years ago. We have since moved to state of the art facilities in Oldland Common at SBL Sports Centre. Our weekend classes take place in light spacious sprung floor studios, there is a reception, and a cafe where you can wait with a coffee!  We specialise in bringing the very best of Performing Arts and Theatre Education to the local area;  children can enjoy 90 minutes or three hours per week (depending on age) of high quality training with our drama, dance and singing classes for ages 4 to 18 years.

OUR TRAINING
All our teachers are exceptional performers and experts in their fields: Dan Winter is a trained actor from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School who has worked in Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory, Mya Roberts is an incredibly experienced dance teacher who trained with Richard Marcel (choreographer for Strictly come dancing) and Paul Woolley has many years as an MD of Musical Theatre and pantomime and an exceptional pianist and accompanist. In drama we look at Improvisation, Vocal Training, Stagecraft, Storytelling and use of the body to create strong characterisation (to name but a few techniques). In dance we cover a huge range of genres from Hip Hop to Contemporary, Broadway, Musical Theatre style to Jazz. In singing we look at all aspects of technique and sing everything from West End hits to current pop songs, lesser know musical numbers to student requests plus of course all the material neede for our end of term shows.

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
We very recently performed Stagecoach Has Got Talent (Autumn) a devised show based on modern TV talent shows. In the spring we performed excerpts from various shows including the ever popular Matilda. This term we are looking at the Golden Age of Hollywood; 20s and 30s style and all that jazz!

Children who are interested in professional performing arts are invited to go to local screen-tests and auditions. The agency is great for finding fantastic local and national opportunities and many of our children at Bristol East have performed on stage at the Hippodrome in shows such as Oliver!, South Pacific and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
