On Sunday 29th November 2009 Stagecoach students from across the country took part in a very special musical celebration at one of London’s most prestigious theatres. Over 300 students performed in this packed extravaganza at Her Majesty’s Theatre in the heart of the West End.

Easy Stages 2010 - Auditions For 'My Fair Lady'

Every year hundreds of Stagecoach students from around the UK and overseas audition to take part in the Summer showcase production Easy Stages. In August of this year Easy Stages students performed the original musical ‘Unsinkable,’ and now we are about to start the audition process for Easy Stages 2010.
BBC Children In Need have awarded a grant of £32,000 to InterAct’s new project in Moss Side, Manchester.

We are delighted to announce that InterAct, part of the Stagecoach Charitable Trust, has received a grant of £32,000 from the BBC’s ‘Children In Need’ for their work in Moss Side, Manchester. This exciting new project will begin in early 2010 and will be spread over three years.
The Stagecoach Agency represent young performers in the UK and Ireland aged between 4 - 20 years currently attending Stagecoach Theatre Arts schools and wishing to be represented by an agent.

Jack Butcher, 12, who attends Stagecoach Dorking, is the latest student to be cast in the hugely popular production of “Oliver!” at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. When he joins that prestigious company, he’ll also become part of another illustrious group – those students from Stagecoach who, between them, have appeared in every single West End musical where there are children in the cast.

As a school of performing arts for children we believe that singing classes and drama lessons complement dancing classes to enable our students to become proficient all round performers.

Unlike most dancing schools Stagecoach puts equal emphasis on drama classes and singing classes. In our dancing classes children learn a wide range of styles from jazz, street to modern stage and contemporary. Our dance classes do not include ballet or tap.

Stagecoach drama classes also offer a wide variety of subjects including improvisation, mime, characterisation, voice etc. Drama schools will look for this variety of expertise in students auditioning for higher education.

In addition to dance lessons, drama lessons, and singing class, Stagecoach students also have the opportunity to take exams in musical theatre. Preparation for these will typically take place as part of dancing lessons and other classes. In addition some Stagecoach Schools run a more advanced dancing class (often called a Dance Troupe) for the older students.

Stagecoach is not a dance school; it's a performing arts school for children. Many Stagecoach students attend dancing classes at other dance schools. These dancing classes may be in ballet or tap dancing, which Stagecoach doesn't cover. Stagecoach dance classes include jazz, stage, and a variety of other styles.

As in many a kids dance class, warm ups to strengthen, learning steps and working a routine are the normal content. In the same was, other another drama school may provide the same ingredients as Stagecoach, but Stagecoach offer all these performing arts classes under one roof.

In line with other to drama schools Stagecoach has its own agency where children are offered to professional work. Their dance lessons, singing lessons and drama lessons are a vital part of their preparation towards gaining work in performing arts for children.

Stagecoach also offers children the chance to perform on the West End Stage. In preparation for this they may need extra dancing classes and drama lessons. Other dance schools pay to appear in independently run shows, but Stagecoach runs it's own event for its huge network of performing arts schools for children.

People often wonder how Stagecoach manage quality control. This is taken care of by an independent company who train inspectors to assess drama classes, dancing lessons and singing lessons. Each Stagecoach school is inspected yearly by an Inspector who will typically spend time watching the dancing class and the other classes. The Early Stages brand caters for children aged 4 - 6. This offers shorter kids dance classes and is very popular. Children love to feel they attend a dance school or drama school and they thoroughly enjoy taking part in performing arts for children.
