Welcome to Stagecoach Darlington! We provide quality part-time training in singing, dance and drama for children aged 2-18yrs every weekend.

We nurture and develop young potential through performance, stretching young imaginations and helping to develop confidence, physical awareness, communication - as well as being educational and fun. Come and join the fun!

We regularly offer local performance opportunities and over the years have helped many young people develop and move on to glittering careers in the West End and beyond.
Students perform for friends and family twice a year at the school and are also given the opportunity to work towards LAMDA qualifications.

Weekly Classes

Mini Stages (for ages 2-4 yrs)

Mini Stages
Stagecoach Mini Stages (for 2 -4 year olds) 45 Minute Classes are a fun and exciting way for you and your child to actively experience the performing arts in a comfortable, relaxed and safe environment.

Early Stages (for ages 4-6 yrs)

Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.

(90 minutes each week)

Main Stages (for ages 6-18 yrs)

Main Stages classes are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. We believe in the potential of every child!

(3 hrs each week)

Further Stages (for ages 15+ yrs)

Our advanced musical theatre sessions give talented students the chance to extend their performance skills.  Through in-depth training and master classes, we help students to hone their skills in singing, dancing and acting.  We also give students the confidence to audition for theatre and vocational drama schools (if that is their goal) and make sure they are well prepared for interviews and auditions.

Meet The Team

Principal - Presia Nicholls and Vicky McIntyre

Presia trained professionally at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). After graduating, she worked predominantly on the London fringe in many independent projects and tours, including a contract with the ‘Accidental Theatre Company’ as their stage manager and regular returns to the RADA summer school as a director’s assistant. She also enjoyed short stints at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, The Coliseum with the English National Opera and the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry. In 2007
Presia started her teaching career with an initial specialism in teaching students with additional needs and currently teaches Drama and RE at Teesdale School
Presia is passionate about developing courage and self esteem in young people. She believes that all students have their own individual talents and strengths and that through Stagecoach these can be nurtured and channelled to create well rounded, happy young people. She is confident that the talented, friendly and inspirational team at Stagecoach Darlington and Yarm make it the number one choice for classes in performing arts today and for the future.

Vicki was herself a Stagecoach Darlington student from an early age, then progressing up to being a Further Stages student. Vicki`s capabilities were recognised when she became an Early Stages assistant at Stagecoach Yarm. After completing her degree at Liverpool University in Drama, Theatre Studies and English Literature, Vicki trained as a primary school teacher and qualified with a PGCE and now holds a teaching post at Gurney Pease Primary school in Darlington. She is trained in involving creativity in the classroom, ensuring pupil progress and safeguarding children. Vicki is convinced about the benefits that Stagecoach can have for children. She is a firm believer that Stagecoach is the ideal place to develop children's confidence and courage alongside skills that will be useful in all walks of life. She is enthusiastic about providing performance opportunities that allow Stagecoach children to showcase their talent further.
