Stagecoach Totton

A very warm welcome from Stagecoach Performing Arts Totton.  We provide quality training in singing, dance and drama for children aged 4 – 18 years, in an environment where everyone is encouraged to reach their full potential. Whether children come to build their confidence, make new friends or just have fun – or indeed if they want to follow a professional performing arts career – we give them the tools to help them achieve their goal.  We set ourselves high standards, and the students work hard to achieve them, but always with a sense of fun and enjoyment.

Our students take part in full-scale costumed shows on our own stage, and at larger professional venues.  Throughout the year students can also participate in West End masterclasses led by cast members of current shows.

No audition is required for new students – all they need is enthusiasm, commitment, and a love of performing arts.

We offer Performing Arts Exams

Weekly Classes

Early Stages (for ages 4-6 yrs)

Stagecoach Early Stages
Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.

(90 minutes each week)

Main Stages (for ages 6-18 yrs)

Stagecoach Main Stages
Main Stages classes are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. We believe in the potential of every child!

(3 hrs each week)

Further Stages (for ages 15+ yrs)

Stagecoach Further Stages
Our advanced musical theatre sessions give talented students the chance to extend their performance skills.  Through in-depth training and master classes, we help students to hone their skills in singing, dancing and acting.  We also give students the confidence to audition for theatre and vocational drama schools (if that is their goal) and make sure they are well prepared for interviews and auditions.

Fees in accordance with Main Stages.

Whether they want to be fairies, pirates or detectives, there is a Stagecoach Party for everyone!

Meet The Team

Principal - Alison Chant

Alison graduated from Cumbria Institute of the Arts with 1st Class Honours in Performing Arts.  She went on to perform in a number of theatres around the UK and it was during this time that she began teaching for a Stagecoach Performing Arts School.  Alison enjoyed sharing her love for performing and found a real passion for working with children and young people.  Compelled to take this further, she returned to university and qualified as Primary School teacher.

After 10 years teaching at both Stagecoach and in the Primary classroom, Alison got married and started a family.  With the need for a more flexible work and home life, she left full-time teaching and focused solely on Stagecoach.  In 2015 she became Principal of Stagecoach Totton and has never looked back.

The best part of her job is seeing the joy on children’s faces when they find like-minded friends and activities that they love at Stagecoach.  The classes provide much more than singing, dancing and drama tuition- as cheesy as it is to say: it is a family.  Friendships formed at Stagecoach have lasted well beyond the classroom.

Some students go on to pursue performing arts at Drama School or University.  Others choose different vocational or academic career paths; but all go on to follow their dreams with an attitude that knows “I can and WILL do this”. The self-confidence gained at Stagecoach, and the support from peers and teachers alike, has been a huge part of this mind-set and is something that Alison is so proud to be part of.
