Stagecoach Royal Wootton Bassett

Welcome to Stagecoach Royal Wootton Bassett. We offer more than just learning how to sing, dance and act. We help students to develop the creative courage to unlock their potential, to stand up and be heard, to work well with other students and to embrace new ideas and possibilities. As they put their new skills into practice, in a fun but safe environment, students become more self-assured, expressive, sociable and imaginative. All skills that will serve them well on the stage of life.

Early Stages Autumn Term

We will be using Superheroes as a theme to inspire our singing, dancing and acting classes, with the 4 to 6 year olds. This will be really popular with our new Early Stages students and will allow us to build some strong foundations in all three disciplines, whilst they grown in confidence and make some new friends in our first term together.

Main Stages Autumn Term

We will be celebrating some classic and more recent classic stage and movie musicals as our inspiration in Main Stages with the 6 to 18 year olds. In addition to some incredible singing, dancing and drama, with our brilliant team throughout the term, We will also be welcoming a West End STAR to host a West End Masterclass! Exciting times ahead!

Weekly Classes

Early Stages (for ages 4-6 yrs)

Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.

(90 minutes each week)

Main Stages (for ages 6-18 yrs)

Main Stages classes are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. We believe in the potential of every child!

Meet The Team

Principal - James Barker

James has spent the last 25 years in performing arts and entertainment. He started as an ‘all singing and all dancing’ Butlin’s Redcoat, in Bognor Regis which was an excellent foundation to build his career.
From there he went to sea to work for Princess Cruises hosting daytime and evening activities including ballroom dance classes, line dance classes and gameshows. After one year he was promoted to Deputy Cruise Director and shortly thereafter to Cruise Director. James was responsible for the day to day smooth running of the Entertainment Department, which included hosting live TV shows and theatre productions. He operationally led a team of 120 performers including singers, dancers, production crew, bands, acts, DJ’s, youth and cruise staff. He was very privileged to be the inaugural Cruise Director on several brand new cruise ships during his time with Princess Cruises.
When James came back on ‘dry land’ he was the Director of Entertainment for Warner Leisure Hotels. He was responsible for the Entertainment at all the Warner properties throughout the UK. He was responsible for the strategic planning and brand direction of the entertainment offer. His proudest moment at Warner was collaborating with the National Symphony Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra to create bespoke shows that would normally only be available at the Royal Albert Hall.

James is a very experienced Principal and is already running successful Stagecoach schools in Faringdon, Highworth and Shrivenham and was awarded Best Newcomer which is a national Stagecoach award in 2017. James is a warm people person, who loves to make a big difference to his team, to his students and parents. He has bags of creativity to build a strong syllabus that will be fun, educational, stimulating and rewarding.
James is excited to start inspiring Creative Courage for Life in his new students in Royal Wootton Bassett, Fairford, Malmesbury and Liddiard Park.
James is a parent too, he and his husband and their two children live locally.
