Stagecoach Royal Wootton Bassett

Welcome to Stagecoach Royal Wootton Bassett.

Our fantastic team of teachers provide a safe and fun learning environment in which children can thrive and be the best version of themselves. We work together and support each other, one team, one Stagecoach family.

We offer more than just learning how to sing, dance and act. We help children stand up and be heard, be a team player and to embrace each other's differences.

Whether your child is interested in a career in the performing arts or not, their time at Stagecoach will be inavualble. As young adults, our students confidently walk into an interview, shake someone's hand and even present in public. They confidently present themselves on those occasions we teach them how to succeed in whatever life throws at them.

If you have a confident singing, dancing diva at home or a child who would benefit from a boost in confidence, we would love to welcome your family for a two-week trial.  We often find during the trial, children realise they found 'their people' and they start to build life-long friendships.

Meet The Team

Principal - James Barker BA Hons Drama

James has spent the last 25 years in performing arts and entertainment. He started as an ‘all singing and all dancing’ Butlin’s Redcoat, in Bognor Regis which was an excellent foundation to build his career.
From there he went to sea to work for Princess Cruises hosting daytime and evening activities including ballroom dance classes, line dance classes and gameshows. After one year he was promoted to Deputy Cruise Director and shortly thereafter to Cruise Director. James was responsible for the day to day smooth running of the Entertainment Department, which included hosting live TV shows and theatre productions. He operationally led a team of 120 performers including singers, dancers, production crew, bands, acts, DJ’s, youth and cruise staff. He was very privileged to be the inaugural Cruise Director on several brand new cruise ships during his time with Princess Cruises.
When James came back on ‘dry land’ he was the Director of Entertainment for Warner Leisure Hotels. He was responsible for the Entertainment at all the Warner properties throughout the UK. He was responsible for the strategic planning and brand direction of the entertainment offer. His proudest moment at Warner was collaborating with the National Symphony Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra to create bespoke shows that would normally only be available at the Royal Albert Hall.
James is a very experienced Principal and is already running successful Stagecoach schools in Faringdon, Highworth and Shrivenham and was awarded Best Newcomer which is a national Stagecoach award in 2017. James is a warm people person, who loves to make a big difference to his team, to his students and parents. He has bags of creativity to build a strong syllabus that will be fun, educational, stimulating and rewarding.
James is excited to start inspiring Creative Courage for Life in his new students in Royal Wootton Bassett, Fairford, Malmesbury and Liddiard Park.
James is a parent too, he and his husband and their two children live locally.
