Stagecoach Richmond has been established for more than twenty years, and continues to uphold its excellent reputation as a pioneering performing arts school for local children. For the past nineteen years, Stagecoach Richmond has developed in even more innovative directions under the leadership of its Principal, Jo van der Westhuysen. 

We are passionate and dedicated to achieving the highest possible standards in a fun and exciting environment.  Our priority is to develop the self-confidence of every one of our growing students by allowing them to express themselves in new and imaginative ways. This experience gives the students invaluable life skills, fantastic foundations for future learning, and wonderful new reaches of creative expression. Our aim is to give our students creative courage for life.

LAMDA

Did you know that Stagecoach Theatre Arts Richmond offers students the chance to take LAMDA exams? Students work with our specialist coach, Ollie Slee, to prepare their pieces and then perform them in front of an examiner. These exams are a fantastic way to improve children's confidence as well as expanding their skill set.

Our Performance Group are currently working very hard outside their regular Stagecoach hours, in preparation for their performance at the Shaftesbury Theatre. What an exciting opportunity for our talented students to perform in one of London's most prestigious west end theatres!

SUMMER HOLIDAY WORKSHOP

School’s out and we’re back with another exciting week of summer creativity and fun! From acting to singing and dancing, participants of all abilities are welcome to embrace their talents, make new friends and shine on stage in a fully costumed show at the end of the week. Weekly Classes

Early Stages (for ages 4-6 yrs)

Stagecoach Early Stages
Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.

(90 minutes each week)

Main Stages (for ages 6-18 yrs)

Stagecoach Main Stages
Main Stages classes are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. We believe in the potential of every child!

Meet The Team

Principal - Jo van der Westhuysen

Jo has been involved in theatre most of her life. She graduated from the Northern Ballet School and throughout her professional career she has performed as a dancer, singer and actress in numerous musical theatre productions. She worked aboard P&O and Princess cruise ships and assisted with the choreography of numerous production shows. Jo had been working for Stagecoach as a manager. She found the experience so rewarding that when the opportunity presented itself she could not resist the challenge of running a Stagecoach school of her own. Jo is passionate and dedicated to achieving the highest possible standards in a theatre school which continues to go from strength to strength.
