Stagecoach Richmond

Welcome to Stagecoach Richmond

Stagecoach Richmond has been established for twenty years, and continues to uphold its excellent reputation as a pioneering performing arts school for local children. For the past twelve years, Stagecoach Richmond has developed in even more innovative directions under the leadership of its Principal, Jo van der Westhuysen. Our venue at Kings House School is the ideal environment for Jo and her team of dynamic teachers to fully explore the disciplines of drama, dance and singing, as part of a comprehensive performing arts experience.

We are passionate and dedicated to achieving the highest possible standards in a fun and exciting environment.  Our priority is to develop the self-confidence of every one of our growing students by allowing them to express themselves in new and imaginative ways. This experience gives the students invaluable life skills, fantastic foundations for future learning, and wonderful new reaches of creative expression. Our aim is to give our students creative courage for life.

Perfomance Group

We would like to say a huge “congratulations” to our Performance Group, who represented Stagecoach Performing Arts Richmond at the May Fair, last Saturday (13th May). The excitement built as the crowds gathered and our students didn’t disappoint – they gave a fantastic performance! So deserving of the applause they received.

LAMDA

Did you know that Stagecoach Theatre Arts Richmond offers students the chance to take LAMDA exams? Students work with our specialist coach, Mara Leah, to prepare their pieces and then perform them in front of an examiner. These exams are a fantastic way to improve children's confidence as well as expanding their skill set.

Summer workshop

Children aged 6 to 11 are invited to come and join us for an action packed week of acting, singing and dancing. Students will have lots of fun learning exciting numbers from popular West End productions with a showcase on the last day. To book your place, call Jo on 020 8332 6741.

Weekly Classes

Early Stages (for ages 4-6 yrs)

Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.

(90 minutes each week)

Main Stages (for ages 6-18 yrs)

Main Stages classes are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. Principal - Jo van der Westhuysen

Jo has been involved in theatre most of her life. She graduated from the Northern Ballet School and throughout her professional career she has performed as a dancer, singer and actress in numerous musical theatre productions. She worked aboard P&O and Princess cruise ships and assisted with the choreography of numerous production shows. Jo had been working for Stagecoach as a manager. She found the experience so rewarding that when the opportunity presented itself she could not resist the challenge of running a Stagecoach school of her own.
