There are options to take examinations in ABRSM (piano/singing) LAMDA (acting/public speaking/shakespeare) along with RSL Creative & performing Arts level 3 course for those 14yrs - 18yrs.  Students can also become a member of the Regional Choir as well as take part in many regional and national performance opportunities.  Newcastle Stagecoach is a small group of schools throughout Newcastle upon Tyne whereby it is not unusual for children starting from age 4yrs (some earlier with mini stages) remain with Stagecoach throughout their teens - many returning via their adult professional careers as teachers/inspirators/directors.

Sound of Music 2022

🌟 Cameron Laidler - Friedrich von Trapp 🌟 Cameron is 11 years old, and this is his musical theatre debut. He has been attending Stagecoach since the age of 5 where he acts, sings and dances. With Stagecoach, Cameron has broken a world record for the most stage schools performing the same show (Beauty and the Beast) at the same time! WOW!

Yet again 2023 has seen over 95% Distinction pass rates for Stagecoach Newcastle students - taking exams in Acting, Devising, Shakespeare. This high rate is highly commendable and consistent in exams leading toward UCAS points in the higher grades. Well Done to ALL Teachers and Students! Bravo! We are looking forward to 2024

Weekly Classes

Early Stages (for ages 4-6 yrs)

Stagecoach Early Stages
Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.

(90 minutes each week)

Main Stages (for ages 6-18 yrs)

Stagecoach Main Stages
Main Stages classes are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. We believe in the potential of every child!

Further Stages (for ages 15+ yrs)

Stagecoach Further Stages
Our advanced musical theatre sessions give talented students the chance to extend their performance skills.  Through in-depth training and master classes, we help students to hone their skills in singing, dancing and acting.  We also give students the confidence to audition for theatre and vocational drama schools (if that is their goal) and make sure they are well prepared for interviews and auditions.

Fees in accordance with Main Stages.

Meet The Team

Principal - Angela Salkeld - BSc(Hons) BATD assoc

Angela has been the Principal of the Newcastle & Sunderland schools since June 2002. Angela danced professionally worldwide from the age of 18 years. She eventually returned to the North East to study, gaining BSc in Psychology in the hope of going into Business Administration. However after having her first child in 2000, she reverted back to the performing arts and took on the role of dance tutor part-time at Stagecoach in Durham & Newcastle before taking over in 2002 and opening Stagecoach in Sunderland. Since 2002, Stagecoach in this area has grown and over 1000 professional appearances are credited to Angela and her dedicated team of teachers.
