Drama, Dance and Singing Classes in Hykeham

Welcome to Stagecoach Hykeham

Performing Arts School for 4-18 years.
A warm welcome to you all from the team at Stagecoach Hykeham (in Lincoln), where we're keen to share the enjoyment of performing with you all. We provide part time training in the theatre arts for children aged 4-18 years, allowing our students to sing, dance and act their way to a more confident self. We provide a strong combination of learning and performing, with a variety of opportunities for everyone. We like to get creative and our past performances have included a Disney-themed Flashmob, singing on the radio, a superb presentation of 'Horrible Histories The Groovy Greeks' and involvement with Regional Stagecoach events.
Last term saw us successfully perform Matilda, Little Shop of Horrors and the Three Little Pigs! Our 'Movie Magic' Summer Workshop was also very successful. This term our Early Stages are 'going POP!', and the Main School are working with new, fresh and current material.

For more information, and to enrol for the new term, call Principal Kat on 01522 690580!

Stagecoach Acting, Singing and Dance Classes & Times

Early Stages (for ages 4-6 yrs)

Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.

(90 minutes each week)

Main Stages (for ages 6-18 yrs)

Main Stages classes are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. We believe in the potential of every child!

(3 hrs each week)

At Stagecoach Hykeham performing arts school we cater for children and young people who love to dance, sing and act, and for those who need to gain confidence, providing a safe space for them to express themselves, and be themselves! Everyone is welcome, and we’re keen for everyone to ‘get stuck in!’ Girls and boys are welcomed at the beginning of each term.

We emphasize training and skill development aimed at creating confident performers who are happy to be in front of an audience. We always ensure everyone is part of the team and gets a fair chance to show what they can do, it’s like one big family! Stagecoach Hykeham students get the chance to learn skills not necessarily found elsewhere locally, such as: comedy improvisation, script writing, contemporary dance, and creative adventure-based learning in Early Stages.
The session meets in South Lincoln (near Waddington and Bracebridge) and was taken over by Kat Hendy in 2014, having been started back in 2003. Many of our students stay for several years, and newcomers are always welcomed into the team.

There is no audition to join the Stagecoach School, and the sessions are designed to help kids and teens learn new skills whilst having fun. All classes focus on a rich and wide selection of performance styles.

In singing class, students develop their voices through carefully selected exercises to extend range and technique, and rehearse performance styles varying from pop to musical theatre to folk and jazz. Our current singing teacher has taught for Stagecoach for over 10 years!

In drama class, we use actor games to teach specific acting techniques and work on improvised, devised, and scripted pieces covering a wide range of styles including classical, modern, choral, melodrama, puppetry, mask work and many more. Our current drama teacher has taught for Stagecoach for nearly 8 years!

In dance classes, students learn dance technique to improve strength, poise and posture, and rehearse routines in jazz, modern, contemporary, musical theatre, and show styles. These sessions are also a great way to improve exercise and fitness levels!

Our training, over time, provides a well-rounded performing arts training, taught by top industry professionals who are all DBS checked.

Our students give regular performances and demonstrations, as well as receiving progress reports. They perform regularly in extra projects too. Previous public performances include a Disney Flashmob in the middle of Lincoln City Centre, singing Christmas Carols on Siren FM & at the famous Lincoln Christmas Market, dancing in the Waterside Shopping Centre, and a link event performance at St Columba’s Church.

We also took all of Stage 2 and 3 to perform at the regional event ‘Stagecoach Live in Peterborough’ at The Cressett Theatre! There any many more performances in the pipeline for Stagecoach Hykeham!
