Summer Workshops 2017

Once again, we had an action-packed week in August at our popular Summer Workshops. Well done to all who took part. We look forward to doing it all again next year! Please do check the website around March time when we'll open up registers for our Summer 2018 workshops.

Oh what a show!

In our Summer term, all 4 of our Early Stages classes had their time to shine in their end of year shows. Our youngest students absolutely loved performing to their families and we were very proud of their brave performances. Well done Early Stages!

Events

We love getting involved in local events and giving students the opportunity to perform outside of Stagecoach. In our Summer term 2017, we took part in the Brighton Children's Parade, trod the boards at the White Rock Theatre in Hastings, and took two separate groups to perform on Saturday and Sunday at "Paddle round the Pier" in July.

Weekly Classes

Early Stages (for ages 4-6 yrs)

Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.

(90 minutes each week)

Main Stages (for ages 6-18 yrs)

Main Stages classes are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. We believe in the potential of every child!

(3 hrs each week)

Meet The Team

Principal - Rebecca Manning

Rebecca's love of performing began at a young age when she aspired to be in "Legs & Co" - a dance group who had a regular weekly spot on BBC1's "Top of the Pops".   Her road to the stage began by enrolling at a local dance school in Hampshire before continuing on to train full-time at the Arts Educational Schools in London. Upon graduating, Rebecca travelled the world performing as a professional dancer and choreographer and held the position of Dance Captain for numerous cruise lines, theatre productions and casinos. Rebecca retired from performing at the end of 2006 and now works as a freelance dance teacher and choreographer throughout the Sussex region.

Rebecca has taught both Dance and Early Stages for many different branches of Stagecoach over the past 10 years and also runs her own Wedding Dance Company and Birthday Dance Party Company.

Rebecca became Principal of Stagecoach Hove in September 2011 and says:
"It is a real joy visiting the classes each week in my role as Principal and seeing the wonderful work that is going on and the fun the students are having. I am always amazed at the progress they make under the guidance of my teachers and how their confidence grows throughout each term. It is a privilege to be involved in their development in such key areas as confidence building and being able to express themselves. We have a really friendly, inclusive school and new students are instantly made to feel welcome and part of their group. I love my Sunday mornings at Stagecoach and know the students and teachers do too."

Rebecca has worked hard to build the school up to the vibrant and exciting place it is today.  Following on from the success of the Sunday morning classes, a Friday after school branch was opened in January 2016.

Rebecca has a real passion for all aspects of the performing arts and only wishes Stagecoach had been around when she was younger!
