Stagecoach Colwyn Bay

Welcome to Stagecoach Colwyn Bay, where we provide quality part-time performing arts training for children and teenagers aged 4 to 18 years.

Stagecoach Colwyn Bay has been nurturing talent and potential in young people since 2003 and aims to encourage and develop key life skills in all students, such as confidence, communication and collaboration. Stagecoach Colwyn Bay offers fully inclusive weekly classes in Drama, Dance and Singing for all ages and abilities, which stretch, challenge and support all students individually.

Stagecoach Colwyn Bay has a jam-packed itinerary of annual events including a full length musical production at Theatr Colwyn every spring, an awards demonstration every summer and LAMDA examinations every autumn, as well as a variety of additional local events, festivals and trips.

We believe that whatever path our students follow in their life they will always rely on the skills, learning and progress they made at Stagecoach; it doesn't stop when the curtain falls - this is for #creativecourageforlife

Weekly Classes

Early Stages (for ages 4-6 yrs)

Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.

(90 minutes each week)

Main Stages (for ages 6-18 yrs)

Main Stages classes are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. We believe in the potential of every child!

(3 hrs each week)

Principal - Kayleigh Melluish - BA Hons

Kayleigh became principal of Stagecoach Colwyn Bay in April 2011 shortly after graduating from the University of Surrey with a BA Hons Degree in Dance and Culture. In 2011 she also set up the musical theatre ‘The Gleeks’ and began performing with, and choreographing and directing for a number of local amateur Musical Theatre companies. In 2014 Kayleigh graduated from Liverpool Hope University with a PGCE in Secondary Performing Arts and is now Head of Performance at an all-girls high school in Liverpool where she oversees Dance, Drama, Performing Arts, Music and PE. Over the past six years Kayleigh has thoroughly enjoyed establishing Stagecoach Colwyn Bay and watching her vision of a fully inclusive, part time performing arts school come to fruition. Kayleigh leads the school in a series of annual events including an informal awards demonstration every summer and a full length musical production at Theatr Colwyn every spring, as well as organising theatre trips and participation in local festivals/events. Kayleigh ensures that all students are constantly challenged and encouraged to develop their confidence, improve their life skills and fulfil their potential. Kayleigh says; "Stagecoach Colwyn Bay is a wonderful place to spend Saturday mornings, it is bursting with laughter and talent. I absolutely love watching our students make progress, whether it's in confidence or skill, and whatever path our students follow I am certain that they will always rely on their learning from Stagecoach Colwyn Bay".
