With over 700 theatre schools and more than 40,000 students worldwide, Stagecoach is the UK's largest network of part time performing arts schools for children. Since our inception in 1988, our singing, acting and dancing classes have helped to build the confidence of many thousands of children, as well as providing a springboard for some of the country's leading young performers. Every student participates in all three performing arts disciplines - drama classes, dance classes and singing classes - helping to develop confidence, physical awareness, communication and articulation - as well as being educational and lots of fun! In addition, opportunities exist for students to be offered professional work in film, theatre and modelling by the Stagecoach Agency.

2-Week Trial - Book Now!

Autumn Term Places are now available - we are offering 2-week trials for all new students to start 8th & 9th September. £25 - Early Stages (4 - 6 year old) / £50 Main School (6 - 18 year old)


This Autumn our Main School students will be learning a number of new skills, styles and techniques. The theme is 'Step Back in Time' so we will be covering everything from rock and roll to street dance, silent movies to TV acting and 'Chicago' to Michael Jackson. It should be a lot of fun! There will be a presentation at the end of term.

Half Term Workshop

*SUN OCT 21st* 10am - 1pm Half term one day workshop with the internationally acclaimed Company Chameleon. Highly physical, creative street dance which is accessible to everyone and above all, fun! The workshop is led by Company Chameleon's Co-Artistic Director, Anthony Missen. Open to students and non-students. £20 for the 3 hour session.

We have been leading the part time performing arts school industry for 30 years. Every term we work hard to continue to develop our classes through our highly trained teachers and custom workshops.

NEW SUNDAY @ 9.30am

Due to high demand, we have opened a new Sunday morning class for 4-6 yr olds at The MET Theatre, BURY


We are very pleased to have RADA come to run workshops for older students; RADA accepts up to 28 students each year onto their three year BA in Acting Course in London. Most notable alumni include, Sean Bean, Sir Kenneth Branagh, Alan Rickman, Jane Horrocks, Mark Addy


We are already preparing for our Spring term which will be a SHOW term. Our Main School students will spend the 12 weeks working towards a fully staged production at the end of term performed at our fantastic home venue, the Met Theatre. We can't wait!

Two week trial

Weekly Classes

Early Stages (for ages 4-6 yrs)

Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.

(90 minutes each week)

Main Stages (for ages 6-18 yrs)

Main Stages classes are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. We believe in the potential of every child!

(3 hrs each week)

Further Stages (for ages 15+ yrs)

Our advanced musical theatre sessions give talented students the chance to extend their performance skills.  Through in-depth training and master classes, we help students to hone their skills in singing, dancing and acting.  We also give students the confidence to audition for theatre and vocational drama schools (if that is their goal) and make sure they are well prepared for interviews and auditions.

Meet The Team

Principal - Jill Schoonjans

Jill has been a professional singer since the age of 16. In a vast and varied career, she has toured extensively with internationally acclaimed theatre productions such as ‘The Johnny Cash Roadshow’ (in which she starred as Johnny’s wife, June Carter) and Abba tribute ‘Mamma Mania’. She has performed at every major theatre in the UK as well as international stages, cruise ships and even the odd circus tent. Jill is from Manchester and began her career as a production vocalist at Granda Studios Tour where she also trained as a ‘Sooty’ puppeteer.

Jill also works as a theatre promoter and producer looking after Europe’s leading Elvis Presley theatre show ‘One Night of Elvis’ and she runs a touring pantomime company.

Over the years, Jill has taught drama, dance and singing to children of all ages and was an Early Stages Teacher for Stagecoach Macclesfield. She is thrilled and privileged to be principal of Stagecoach Bury.

‘For me the most important thing we do is to build confidence. I was quite a shy child but I developed an early love for performing. I’m very fortunate to have made a career doing something I love but whether our students become professional performers or not, they will gain creative courage that will benefit them in so many wonderful ways. Here at Stagecoach Bury, the students will be learning and flourishing whilst having fun and making friends.’
