Stagecoach Blandford Forum and Shaftesbury

Stagecoach Performing Arts School Blandford and Shaftesbury Schools have been running since 2008
(Shaftesbury 10 years and Blandford 4 years.) Big news! From January 2019 we will have both the
morning and the afternoon schools on the same site at Blandford Senior School in Milldown Road,
Blandford. The facilities there are so good in a purpose built performing arts block with dance,
drama and music studios. Being in one place all day will also give us the opportunity to expand our
extra activities.

We provide singing dancing and acting classes all under one roof. We teach key skills in dance,
drama and singing to children and teenagers aged 4 to 18 in the Blandford and Shaftesbury areas.
Our aim is to nurture and develop every child’s potential through the performing arts, stretching
imaginations and building confidence. Our lessons are carefully planned to provide the highest
quality performing arts tuition for 4 to 18 year olds in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Students have
the opportunity to take examinations (both Lamda and New Era NEA exams are taken). You can rest
assured that your child is in safe hands.

Our two schools have had a very exciting journey in the past year. In spring both whole schools took
NEA performance exams and all groups and individuals attained merits and distinctions. Those
taking Lamda all had distinctions. In summer both schools gave great presentations at end of term.
Our summer senior workshop in August was the biggest and best yet performing the musical ‘Stand
& Deliver’ and our youngsters junior ‘Pond life’ was great fun. In autumn term we joined with 6
other Stagecoach schools in a fantastic performance at The Bournemouth Pavilion ‘All The World’s A
Principal Di has been running Stagecoach schools for over 20 years and says ‘our aim is for evry child
to have the opportunity to reach their potential and be the best they can be in a nurturing and
friendly but professional disciplined atmosphere. Take the two week trial and join the fun, we have
the most amazing time at Stagecoach.’

We have moved

Since half term we have relocated to The Blandford School where we have really excellent facilities. A large dance studio, two drama studios, music rooms etc. plenty of space for our students to grow. We love it here.

We were delighted to take the whole schools of Blandford and Shaftesbury to perform at the Bournemouth Pavilion this autumn with six other Stagecoach schools from the south west in a fabulous production. It was an amazing day, culminating in the evening show to a full house with over 450 students taking part. Awesome is an appropriate word.

West End Success

19 of our students wowed them in London this month with a great performance of the megamix and rap from Starlight Express at the Shaftesbury Theatre West End. The audience were loud in their appreciation and everyone had a great night. This is Amy giving her all even with a leg in a cast! . Very proud Principal and parents too.

Our EARLY STAGES classes for 4 to nearly 6 year olds at Blandford Forum Stagecoach have been working on songs from shows this term and interpreting them in their own individual way. They will be presenting them to parents at the end of term in the drama studio.

The whole school took Performance Arts Exams under the NEA (New Era Examination board). These exams at the medium and higher grade enjoy 'Ofqual' points . Again, this year we had 20 examinations both solo, duet and groups, 15 Distinctions, and 4 Merits which was great. Very proud of the work our students produced.

We are working on the big extravaganza which we are taking part in at The Bournemouth Pavilion later in the year with six other Stagecoach Schools. Entitled 'All The World's a Stage' it will be a fantastic opportunity for our students to perform on a large professional stage with other like-minded students. We are really looking forward to this.

Starlight Express

After a fabulous summer term when we joined with Shaftesbury Stagecoach for two wonderful performances of Starlight Express with two casts and fantastic costumes we are now back for a skills term starting on 17th September. Here are some pictures from our show in June.

Stage three have a Soiree

Later this term, our Blandford Stage threes are having a Soiree with an invited audience to show their individual work they have been working on this term. Apart from Solos, there will be duets in a relaxed atmosphere in our Studio at the school.

Starlight Express

Demonstration Day!

Blandford Stagecoach gave us a great relaxed Demonstration of work and students gave bravura performances and some laughs too. Lovely afternoon which the team and Di enjoyed enormously as did parents and students. Have a great Christmas and come back ready for the next exciting term!

SLICK our summer school

Our summer school show 'SLICK' A MUSICAL following the life of an English teenager in the late 50's went down a storm. Plenty of breathtaking dancing and some very funny scenes. The students had a great time, and the audience - well it really took those grandparents back to their heyday. All great fun.

Weekly Classes

Early Stages (for ages 4-6 yrs)

Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.

(90 minutes each week)

Main Stages (for ages 6-18 yrs)

Main Stages classes are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. We believe in the potential of every child!
