Stagecoach Theatre Arts Aberdeen South

Stagecoach Aberdeen South offers fun and educational classes in acting, singing and dance for 4 - 18 year olds.

We have been very lucky over the years to have been involved in lots of professional touring productions at His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen, including providing the choir for Joseph 5 times which has been an amazing experience for the children! We have also had kids in Whistle down the Wind, Scrooge, Evita, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Half a Sixpence, working with big names like Gary Wilmott, Tommy Steele and Michael Barrymore.

We put on two performances a year for parents in our own venue - this year's themes have been A Celebration of Scotland tying in with the Commonwealth games and “Pack up yer Troubles” - remembering our fallen war heroes.

Join in the fun!

Weekly Classes

Early Stages (for ages 4-6 yrs)

Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.

(90 minutes each week)

Main Stages (for ages 6-18 yrs)

Main Stages classes are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. We believe in the potential of every child!

(3 hrs each week)

Principal - Judith McGlynn - B Ed (Hons)

Judith has been involved in children's theatre for many years and seeing how much being involved in this hobby developed the self esteem and confidence, inspired her to get involved in Stagecoach. An ex guidance teacher, she has a great relationship with parents and her pupils and strives to keep a positive atmosphere in the school. She thoroughly enjoys Stagecoach and feels lucky to have a career doing something which benefits so many children. She has played many title roles including Calamity Jane and Sweet Charity and was part of a fundraising group which toured 'Nunsense' taking it to the Edinburgh Festival in 2004. Nowadays she still works part time in an Angus Secondary and, along with husband Fraser, runs Stagecoach Aberdeen South and Perth.
