Parent Testimonial

We are delighted by feedback we've been getting from parents of Early and Main Stage students about how their experience with us is making a positive impact on their lives: 'I've seen my daughter transform from shy and unsure... to enthusiastic, energetic and engaged since joining Stagecoach. She's really found her passion. It's a joy to watch!'

Beauty and the Beast

What an epic experience it was in our Summer term 2018 - the cast worked so hard, both Early and Main Stages. Audiences enjoyed a Saturday 30th June show ahead of the big World Record attempt at 6pm on Sunday 1st July. We were one of the 73 schools who achieved the World Record - such a fine achievement in our 1st year.

Weekly Classes

Early Stages (for ages 4-6 yrs)

Stagecoach Early Stages
Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.

(90 minutes each week)

Main Stages (for ages 6-18 yrs)

Stagecoach Main Stages
Main Stages classes are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. We believe in the potential of every child!

Meet The Team

Principal - Carly Sterne : BA Hons, PGCE/QTS

Carly studied a BA Hons degree in Drama, Theatre Studies and English Literature at Manchester University, graduating in 1996 with a 2:1 and a distinction for her performance of Beckett’s ‘Happy Days’. In 2002, she qualified in her PGCE at Warwick University.
Currently, Carly is a Head of Drama, with sixteen years of Drama and Theatre teaching experience in Secondary schools in Birmingham, Sandwell and Solihull. She has taught thousands of 11-18 year olds over the years and worked diligently to facilitate their success in GCSE, A Level, BTEC Drama, Theatre Studies and Performing Arts. She is also a qualified and experienced English and Media teacher. Her ethos in all Drama departments she has run, is to encourage and increase every child’s confidence by instilling the 3Cs: concentration, co-operation and communication – core skills to ensure success in Higher Education and in any workplace, though crucial for a career in the Performing Arts Industry.

Carly believes in a fully inclusive learning environment, where children and teenagers feel secure to explore their own ideas and develop their ability to reflect as part of their creative journey. ‘Serious fun’ is how she approaches Drama in the classroom – something she intends to fully realise at Stagecoach Yardley Wood.
