Welcome to Stagecoach Swindon

Performing Arts School for 4-18 years.

Welcome to Stagecoach Swindon- a creative, fun environment where your children can learn valuable skills in Dance, Drama and Singing. Our fabulous team of talented teachers are here to inspire our students, helping to build their confidence and learn all about the performing arts. We offer our students a huge variety of performance opportunities, ranging from a Talent show (where the children are encouraged to develop their own ideas from paper to stage) to our end of year production, in which the whole school comes together to perform a musical show.

Our school provides a safe place for like-minded children to express themselves, allowing them to unlock their imaginations, increase their self-confidence and build new friendships along the way.

32 students from Stagecoach Swindon have just returned from an amazing four day trip where they performed at Disneyland Paris. The children aged 8- 18 years represented their school on stage at ‘Cinemagique’ and then took to the streets in the pre-parade to an audience of thousands. They also opened the Park with an anthem of ‘Frozen’ songs in front of the iconic castle. It was an emotional experience with they shared with their families and friends.

Students joined professional touring show
More than 60 children from our school joined the professional touring show ‘Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat’ as their onstage choir in May. This event was particularly special for us, as the Assistant Musical Director for the show was Stagecoach Swindon ex-student Scott Alder! We were invited to select and train the choir for this fabulous family show four times now since they came to Swindon in 2005. The show opened at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre on Tuesday 19th May and ran until Saturday 23rd May.

Student Tomi on ITV
We were very proud to watch Stagecoach Swindon student Tomi on our TV screens on Friday. Tomi and Elliott performed a number from the hit West End show ‘Billy Elliot’ in which they are currently both appearing as two best friends, Michael and Billy. If you missed his appearance on ITV's Mel and Sue follow this link. Tomi, who has attended our school for five years, has been appearing in the show since June 2014. This opportunity was gained through The Stagecoach Agency.

Jay films with Harriet
Stagecoach Swindon student Jay successfully auditioned and filmed in a short student film called ‘Mono’. The film is a about a 10 year old selective mute boy called David, who has a blind and bedbound mum. He was joined on set by ex-Stagecoach Swindon student Harriet (pictured behind Jay with red scarf) who played Runa, a key character who helps David make sound tapes for his Mum.  Well done Jay! This opportunity was gained through The Stagecoach Agency.

OUR SCHOOL

Principal Sheryll has worked with Stagecoach for nearly nineteen years now, moving to Swindon to launch this performing arts school sixteen years ago.

With her wealth of experience in teaching and organising, she leads a dynamic team of teachers. Boasting a student currently performing in the West End as ‘Michael’ in ‘Billy Elliot’, Stagecoach Swindon manages to keep our children grounded and to welcome those new to classes in dance, drama and singing.

OUR TRAINING

Our inspirational team of teachers work on a performance project each term, balancing creativity with technique in the three disciplines: dance, drama and singing. The dance classes are jazz based, but also cover contemporary, classical, street and choreographic work.

Our Drama classes explore scripts, improvisation, devising and include workshops from stage combat skills to Shakespeare.

Our singing classes include songs from many genres with a focus on musical theatre, film and pop songs. Our singers also learn song writing and selection skills. Our quality training allows every child to develop their skills and have lots of fun in the process. We also offer lessons leading to a LAMDA acting, musical theatre or verse and prose exam, where we continue to gain fabulous results.

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

Stagecoach Swindon performing arts school students have the chance to shine on stage in our end of year production - most recently, they dazzled audiences with their performance of ‘Alice in a Winter Wonderland’ and in 2013 they performed in the famous musical ‘Cats’. This year, we have been invited to provide a choir for the professional touring production of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ at the Wyvern Theatre.

More than 30 of our students will be performing in Disneyland Paris this summer and our talented ‘Troupe’ will be singing at Her Majesty’s Theatre in the West End next year. We also run regular trips to the theatre - last year students and their families watched ‘Matilda the Musical’ and ‘Billy Elliot’.
