Drama, Dance and Singing Classes in Salisbury

Welcome to Stagecoach Salisbury

A welcoming word from our Principal Edith Thornton.
Edith is the Founder Principal of Salisbury Stagecoach and is in her eighteenth year. She is abley assisted by her husband Patrick. Both Edith and Patrick agree that Stagecoach Salisbury has been the best 17 years of their lives. They have put their life skills to the test and together with their performance skills (Patrick is a semi-professional keyboard play) have produced two very successful and rewarding schools and, surprising, although not parents have a great affinity with the students. Recent performances include Dr Doolitle, Jekyll and Hyde, Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Technicolor dreamcoat, Half a sixpence, Evita and Scrooge.

As summer approaches we shall look forward to activities such as – ‘Bring a Friend’ to Stagecoach, ‘Parents do Stagecoach,’  ‘The Sparkle Competition’ and ‘An Evening of Song & Dance’ at a National Trust property.

The strains of music from ‘Alice in Wonderland’ (our Spring Presentation) drift through the corridors as students arrive  and the atmosphere is electric! As one new parent recently said – ‘I like the feel of this place’!

Our terrific teachers tease the talent out of the students. The many styles of Dance include modern, national and character and the dedicated Dance Troupe also enjoys street dance. Our driven drama coach delights with voice production, choral speaking, mime, script work, characterisation, improvisation and stagecraft. Being a working actor, nobody sleeps when he is around!

Solo singing is encouraged as is choral singing, a capella, harmonising and musicality. Our singers sang at Sainsburys Salisbury at Christmas and our Dance Troupe regularly performs with Dance Exchange at Salisbury Playhouse.

Drama students are current winners of a Choral Speaking class at Salisbury Young Peoples Festival.

Our students have done much professional work for the Bill Kenwright Organisation, especially as the ‘Joseph’ Choir at Southampton.

Stagecoach Salisbury is based at South Wilts Grammar School, Stratford Road, Salisbury SP1 3JJ opposite Victoria Park and there is ample parking on site. Please proceed to reception where a warm welcome awaits you.
