Singing, Dance and Drama Classes in Lancaster

Welcome to Stagecoach Lancaster

Performing Arts School for 4-18 years
Stagecoach Lancaster has been providing quality part-time training in singing, dancing and acting for over 10 years.

Here at Stagecoach Lancaster we run a nurturing school that provides fun and education in a safe and creative environment. We strive to teach life skills, to build confidence and to stretch children’s imaginations through the wonder and love of the theatrical world. Children love being creative, exploring ideas and expressing themselves and teamed with our highly skilled Stagecoach team we are able to develop and create something which is really quite special. It is such a joy to be part of children’s learning and development; to watch them grow in confidence and to gain invaluable performance skills. We stage two whole school performances yearly for friends and family as well as offer specialised exams and individual progress reports.

Stagecoach Lancaster covers all the areas of performing arts so if you are looking for dance classes, singing lessons or acting classes for young people, Stagecoach has it all and under one roof!

Here at Stagecoach we are inspected yearly by Hardings Associates in order to maintain the standard and consistency amongst the UK schools. We are extremely proud to report that both our Kendal and Lancaster schools received an excellent report, comments from the inspection including…  “This is a very well-managed, capable and enthusiastic team who are insistent on high standards which they achieve”, “A very warm and friendly atmosphere”, “There is a real buzz about this school” and “The success of the school is reflected in the high attendance of student”.
Well done to our students and team!

The Lakes Choir

Our award-winning choir ‘The Lakes Choir’ (TLC) was established in 2012 and have gone from strength to strength. Last year we were crowned Stagecoach’s Choir of the Year in a national festival at the Birmingham Symphony Hall. The choir have started to rehearse new repertoire for their Disneyland Paris audition ‘Dance the Dream’ where they hope to perform on the Disney Videopolis Stage and take part in the Stagecoach Pre-Parade in front of thousands of international visitors!

Lamda Examinations

We like to offer students an opportunity to train towards a recognised drama award with our specialised LAMDA coaches. LAMDA training is a wonderful way to build confidence, improve acting and communication skills. We are lucky enough to be registered as a private centre for the LAMDA exams meaning you can take the exam in the same place as you have rehearsed! Our students have been working tirelessly with their LAMDA tutor to perfect, understand and perform at least two monologues/duologues in preparation for their exam. A number of our students are working towards higher grades which enables them to gain UCAS points…good luck!

At Stagecoach Lancaster we cater for children who love to dance, sing and act as well as for those who just need to gain a little more confidence. We offer a positive and nurturing environment for creativity and self-expression to flourish. Everyone is welcome.

We are proud to offer a full and rounded education within the performing arts. We emphasise skill development within dance, singing and drama and twice yearly work towards creating memorable and confident performances in front of an audience. We always ensure everyone is part of the team and gets a fair chance to show what they can do.

There is no audition to join, and the lessons are designed to enable children learn new skills whilst having fun. Our classes focus on a rich and wide variety of performance styles.
In singing class, students develop their voices through carefully selected exercises to extend range and technique, and rehearse performance styles varying from pop to musical theatre to folk and jazz.

In drama class, we use actor games to teach specific acting techniques and work on improvised, devised, and scripted pieces covering a wide range of styles including classical, modern, choral, melodrama, puppetry, mask work, comedy and many more.

In dance classes, children learn dance technique to improve position, poise and posture, and rehearse routines in jazz, modern, contemporary, musical theatre, and show styles.

Our training, over time, provides a well-rounded performing arts training, taught by accomplished and experienced teachers who are all DBS checked.
We also offer examinations in both Lamda Acting and Rock School Performing Arts Awards, providing children with the opportunity to work toward their future gaining accredited certificates and potential UCAS points.

Our students give regular performances for friends and families. They also have the opportunity to take part in local events and as part of professional companies such as the Ellen Kent Opera and Ballet International.
Our award winning choir ‘The Lakes Choir’ have also performed at the NIA for the Stagecoach 25th Anniversary CATS production. They have also been part of a Stagecoach Regional Event, performing on stage at the Mill Volvo Tyne Theatre in Newcastle and at the Stagecoach National Choir Festival held at the Birmingham Symphony Hall……Take a look at our ‘Latest News’ section for more exciting events planned for the future!
