Flash Mob Performance in Aid of Children's Hospice South West
Our performance troupe have been working hard over the last few weeks in secret to put together Stagecoach Barnstaple's first ever Flash Mob! Our students decided that they would like to raise money and awareness of the Children's Hospice South West so together with the help of our sponsors, Redrow Homes and John Smale & Co Estate Agents we set to work to create a show stopping piece. The children performed 'Revolting Children' from the ever popular musical 'Matilda'. With some gutsy characters and some powerful moves, the shoppers of Greenlanes Shopping Centre, Barnstaple certainly looked surprised.
Amazing Results for LAMDA Solo Acting Exams
11 of our students at Stagecoach Theatre Arts School Barnstaple aged from 7-16 years, opted to take their LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) Solo Acting Exams in the Spring of this year. After weeks of hard work and one to one tuition with LAMDA Tutor Mark Wakeman they all headed down to Plymouth to the examination. After a nail biting few weeks we got the results ... 100% PASSED!! All 11 students achieved a Merit or above with nearly half passing at Distinction level!
Principal Kate Ridley-Holloway and LAMDA tutor Mark Wakeman are both incredibly pleased with the results and added, "We could not be prouder of what the students have achieved. They all showed such commitment to the course with each of them achieving fantastic results. We hope they are all very proud of themselves, they are certainly a credit to our school."
'Stagecoach Live' at Princess Thearre, Torquay: October '14
Last year we were delighted to be asked to put together a group of 25 students from our Main Schools to perform at a Stagecoach Regional Showcase. Stagecoach schools from all over the South West and beyond came together to celebrate some of their work and to experience the excitement of performing on a large scale professional stage. Our troupe ranged from 7yrs right up to our eldest students at 18yrs. They all worked extremely hard with long rehearsals and tough steps to learn but is was all well with it. The students performed their version of 'Hairspray' including tracks such as 'Ladies Choice' and 'Nicest Kids in Town' with our boys doing some fantastic solo vocals. With some bright costumes, some fab moves and plenty of hairspray the students had a great reaction from our audience - they can't wait to go back and do it all again!
