Reports to: Head of Education, Programme Development and Training

Role Purpose

The Programme Development and Training Coordinator will be a highly organised, creative and experienced individual. The successful post-holder will be responsible for maintaining and developing the strands of our education programme which focus on the Performing Arts. Experience of teaching within the formal and/or informal education sector is essential. Delivering good customer service at all times to maintain and develop excellent relations with our stakeholders is an essential requirement. An understanding of progression routes to Performing Arts in Further Education and Higher Education would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will have specialist knowledge of Dance Education. He/She will also be able to work as part of a team, coordinate project planning & delivery and contribute to creative writing and research.


  • Work with the Education Team to organise and manage new performing arts education programmes and projects and ensure effective delivery
  • Assist the Head of Education and the Programme Development & Training Manager with daily administration tasks
  • Conduct research to obtain factual information and authentic detail, utilising a variety of sources such as relevant publications, online resource, documents and surveys
  • Conduct school visits to support learning and staff training needs
  • Be actively involved in the creation and development of projects within the Education Department
  • Work with Stagecoach Education colleagues to co-lead delivery of professional development courses for teaching personnel
  • Devise, edit, revise and review work especially in relation to class and workshop materials
  • Communicate regularly with the Education team, keeping all informed of project and workshop timelines, budgets and content
  • Coordinate administration of performance arts teacher/practitioner training courses, leading some of the sessions appropriate to own area of arts specialism/expertise
  • Support the day-to-day running of the Education Department, communicating with a range of stakeholders as appropriate
  • Attend meetings and training as required
  • Proactively contribute ideas for improvement within the Education department
  • Liaise and network with industry professionals and Arts organisations to strengthen provision for 14 – 19 age group in Stagecoach schools
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional standards
  • Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role

Person Specification


  • Up to date knowledge of Performance Arts Education
  • Class teaching experience 11-18 age group
  • Excellent presentation skills in a training environment
  • Performance Arts qualification/s in Dance and/or Theatre/Drama
  • Good planning and organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Good time management, reliable and conscientious
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Able to work on own initiative and also within a team
  • Good IT skills
  • Good problem solving & communication skills – written and verbal
  • Desire to learn new skills
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion policies
  • Ability to work under pressure


  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience in project coordination
  • Teaching qualification
