Stagecoach Loughborough

At Stagecoach Loughborough, we pride ourselves on the quality of teaching that we provide across all three Performing Arts but with the emphasis on having fun! Students who come to us lacking in confidence leave with the skills that they need to lead full and valuable lives. Parents have written to thank us for developing skills in their children which have meant that their academic standard has improved, and that they have found the courage to do something which they would never have done before.  Students who leave us, often after many years, thank us for guiding and helping them in a non-threatening environment, where they feel loved, valued and welcomed every week, giving them a new ‘family’ of friends outside their usual school friends. Some of our students go on to study performing arts at university but most just take with them a love of singing, dance and drama into whatever career path they choose.

We offer Performing Arts Exams

Exciting new term!

We are delighted to welcome two new teachers to our team! Libby will be teaching Dance and Jade will be our new Early Stages teacher with support from Megan as Early Stages Assistant. Jo is looking forward to supporting me even more in her new role as Manager. It's Panto term and we shall be performing Elf the Musical!

Weekly Classes

Early Stages (for ages 4-6 yrs)

Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.

(90 minutes each week)

Main Stages (for ages 6-18 yrs)

Main Stages classes are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. We believe in the potential of every child!

(3 hrs each week)

Principal - Jude Latham - Principal Cert. Ed. and Jo Gallagher - Manager/Administrator ADPA

Jude originally trained as a Primary school teacher, specialising in Speech and Drama.  She taught for 24 years and held Deputy Head and Headteacher positions; she ended her teaching career in 2007 after 6 very successful years as Headteacher at Seagrave Village Primary School in Leicestershire.  Jude began performing aged five, taking part in Speech and Drama competitions and Associated Board examinations, reaching Grade 8.  She appeared in many plays in her home town of Spalding in Lincolnshire. She has performed numerous theatre roles, including Viola in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and Karen in Lillian Helman’s The Children’s Hour.  During her teaching career, she wrote and directed several children’s plays.  More recently, she sang for 15 years with The Ratcliffe Chorale but now sings with Singing for Fun East Midlands, which has raised many thousands of pounds for local charities. She is Chairperson of the QT Theatre Group in Syston, where she has enjoyed performing for several years, particularly the role of Margaret in “Last Tango in Little Grimley”, but she now concentrates on directing, which she really enjoys.

Jo, who is Jude’s daughter, has been involved with Stagecoach since 2008.    She began performing at the age of 7, enjoying outstanding success in Speech and Drama Competitions and performing in many stage shows with her local dancing school.  Whilst at school, she starred in several stage productions and has also sung 2nd Soprano with The Ratcliffe Chorale.  Jo is the regular guest host in the annual “Be Your Best Rock Challenge” in Grantham. She has successfully gained the ADPA (Associate Diploma in Performing Arts - Teaching) with Distinction and is also the Principal of Stagecoach Melton Mowbray which runs on Friday evenings.  She has been our Early Stages teacher since 2012 and has also taught Dance and Drama in Main School.   Jo is now the Manager of our school, deputising for Jude in her absence.
