We had our marvellous Summer Showcase take place on 12th and 13th August in which our students worked for 2-week solid to produce a wonderful and high quality production of The Little Shop of Horrors.
Stagecoach students auditioned for the Summer Showcase back in February and we had the tough decision of whittling down around 500 talented students to make our cast. In the end, we chose 79 of the best from around the globe to participate as part of our international cast for this 2-week production, for which they achieved an incredibly high standard of theatre across their four performances to the public.
We had 72 members from the UK, Ireland, Malta, Spain and Germany stay near to the venue for the 2-weeks so that they could practice and really get a feel for being involved in such a production. Over 12 days of rehearsals, the standard of the performance really was as brilliant as a West End musical! Not to mention the fabulous plant which grew and grew until it really was a life-size human eating plant!
The costume and props for the production were fabulous and we'd like to thank Scenetec for the incredible scenery, In The Wardrobe for the fabulous costumes and RADA for creating such a realistic man-eating plant and providing us with all of our other props!
The Showcase took place in the artsdepot, North Finchley, London and was a perfect modern venue for the production.
We would also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came and watched our performances on the 12th or 13th August.
We have had some lovely feedback from some of our Principals and parents who came and saw the Showcase:
I just wanted to say that I thought the performances yesterday were absolutely brilliant! I didn't know what to expect coming to see a full scale production that had been rehearsed in just 2 weeks, but the show went beyond my expectations. Everything from the cast, to costumes, to that awesome plant! Every single child knew exactly what they were doing at all times and each of them performed their hearts out. Major credit to the creative team there.
Congratulations again, I'll be really spreading the word amongst our students for next year's summer school.
Laura - Principal Stagecoach Salford
Thank you so much for the invite to the rehearsal of "Little Shop of Horrors" last night. We thoroughly enjoyed it and thought you did a fantastic job. We weren't looking forward to the trek to north London but the venue is great and the sound/lights etc have never looked better.
Zoe - Principal Stagecoach Coulsdon
I just wanted to say a big thank you for the past 2 weeks and all the hard work that the team must have put into organisation and looking after the students.
Harriet has had an absolute ball and besides crashing early last night has not stopped going on about it.
Many thanks once again – the shows were amazing.
Thank you to all students who attended auditions for the Summer Showcase. The talent of our students helps us put together an amazing cast who really do shine the light of success for Stagecoach every year.
