"After seven weeks of rehearsals, the day had arrived for our performance. We left Malvern on the coach at 5am while it was still dark, but we were all very excited about the day ahead.
When we got to London a couple of hours later, we started to walk down through the Olympic Park towards the stadium. All around us other Stagecoach schools were heading in the same direction and there was a real buzz in the air.
As we got nearer, the stadium was so much bigger than I thought it would be and it was surrounded by incredible architectural structures, such as the ArcelorMital Orbit and Aquatic Centre.
After a short wait, we were all led into the stadium and it was completely empty, making it seem even bigger! People were mowing the pitch ready for the match and we had a rehearsal with Kelly Forrester, our music
Conductor, which went really well. It was the first time we met all the other Stagecoach Students in our choir and there were so many of us.
We had a short break and when we returned the crowds had begun to take to their seats. My nerves began to kick in as we prepared to sing our first two songs: Wonderwall
by Oasis and Can't Stop the Feeling
by Justin Timberlake. However, when we got up onto the stage, they disappeared and I just had loads of fun!
By 3pm the whole stadium was full and we waited eagerly for the match to begin. At half-time, the whistle blew and we had just minutes to get back into position. That’s when we sang our final song, Rule the World
by Take That. We were projected on to
two massive screens either end of the stadium, as well as being on live TV, then Tokio Myers performed and was brilliant!
The rugby match was really good and Saracens won - of course! We finally left the stadium after everybody else had gone and headed back towards the coaches, getting ready for a long journey home. It was an amazing day and such a great opportunity, with fun, laughter, brilliant memories and lots and lots of singing!"
