Recognising Inspirational Children

The Stagecoach Theatre Arts Awards recognise, acknowledge and reward young people from all walks of life who have either faced adversity, demonstrated bravery, shown courage, cared for others and are good role models for young citizens. Friends of the Stagecoach Theatre Arts Awards include: Actors Lynda Bellingham and Lynda Baron, RADA, Spotlight, The Stage, Daily Express, Ten Alps, The Mackintosh Foundation, Consider This UK and The Diamond Group.

The Awards will be presented at The House of Commons, at a reception hosted by ED Vaizey MP, Shadow Arts Minister, on Tuesday 9th November 2010.

The Stagecoach Theatre Arts Awards, supported by InterAct will recognise, acknowledge and reward young people from all walks of life who have either faced adversity, demonstrated bravery, shown courage or cared for others. These Awards are open to any young person aged between 4 and 18 in the UK. In addition a series of Awards will be presented to students within the Stagecoach network who have excelled or achieved during their time at Stagecoach - these awards will be nominated by Stagecoach Principals.

The Awards for 2009 / 2010 include:
  • The Stagecoach Theatre Arts Award for Bravery - recognising young people who have demonstrated courage.
  • The Stagecoach Theatre Arts Good Buddy Award for youngsters who care about other people and who have proved good role models for youngsters within their communities.
  • The Stagecoach Theatre Arts Young Citizen Award, which seeks to reward young people who have demonstrated community spirit and innovation/leadership in community projects.
  • The InterAct Award for outstanding achievement during adversity.
Nominations will be accepted for any child regardless of whether they attend a Stagecoach School. Four awards will be presented in each category: Winner (Gold Award) and three runners up Highly Commended Awards. The four finalists for each category will be invited to attend the Awards presentation at The House of Commons in November 2010.

In addition, the following Stagecoach Students Awards will be presented as follows:
  • The Stagecoach Award for Excellence
  • The Stagecoach Award for Achievement
  • The Stagecoach Award for Endeavour
Three awards will be presented in each category - Gold - Silver - and Bronze.
The Judging panel will select the finalists from each category - who will then be finally judged by a formal panel chaired by Viscountess Mackintosh and Stephanie Manuel.
