Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

In the summer of 2015 we were delighted to work with 77 students from the UK, Germany, Spain and Malta to rehearse and perform the hit musical ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’.

The cast performed the show four times to an audience consisiting of proud family, friends and to the general public at The Leatherhead Theatre in Surrey. The vibrant show was a huge success on many levels and the enthusiasm and professionalism of our students shone way brighter than even Joseph’s technicoloured coat.

The students ability to adapt themselves to the storyline, direction, choreography and song was astonishing throughout the whole process . A perfect opportunity for Stagecoach to utilise the talent amongst our schools and to celebrate the students’ skills in dance, drama and voice.

The audition process was brilliant and again a wonderful opportunity to visit and audition in various locations around the UK. This year we invited students to come along and take part in a one day workshop allowing them the opportunity to meet the creative team whilst discovering the musical journey, storyline and music. The director, Gary Jerry was an instant hit and a perfect choice to direct Joseph. Gary has been involved with Stagecoach for many years, even as a Stagecoach student and brought his dedication and knowledge to the table. Alongside Gary he was joined by Scott Alder as musical director (a former student) and Daniel Todd as choreographer who has supported the showcase for many years as an assistant choreographer. Together with the Events Team the show was an unmissable event in our 2015 calendar.

‘’Stagecoach has been part of my life for nearly 19 years - almost three quarters of my life!
I joined Stagecoach Newcastle as a little 8 year old in January 1997 and first took part in the Summer Showcase in July 1999. Over the years I took part in 6 (99-01, then 04-06) including playing the lead in Pirates of Penzance, then later assisted on West Side Story (2013). And now this year, everything went full circle - I returned to Summer Showcase as director for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
I am incredibly proud of what the students have achieved.’’
