Easy Stages 2010 – ‘My Fair Lady’
Last Update: 20-04-2010
Earlier this year hundreds of Stagecoach Students from around the UK and overseas auditioned for the chance to take part in this Summer’s prestigious showcase production, ‘Easy Stages’. Competition was extremely tough and 79 lucky students have now been invited to join the company.
The successful students will start an intensive two and a half week rehearsal period from 24th July, followed by four performances at the Leatherhead Theatre in Surrey beginning on 12th August. The production will be directed by Veronica Bennetts and Stephanie Manuel, with Paul Leddington-Wright as Musical Director and Tony Aiken as Choreographer.

This year Stagecoach Theatre Arts is proud to present the classic musical ‘My Fair Lady’. Described as ‘the perfect musical’, ‘My Fair Lady’ tells the story of Eliza Doolittle, a cockney flower seller who is given elocution lessons by Professor Henry Higgins in the hope that he can pass her off as a lady.
The show features some of musical theatre’s best loved songs, including: ‘Wouldn’t It Be Loverly,’ ‘The Rain in Spain,’ ‘I Could Have Danced All Night,’ ‘On the Street Where You Live’ and ‘Get Me To The Church On Time.’ A smash hit when it was originally produced ‘My Fair Lady’ helped to launch the career of Julie Andrews, who played Eliza alongside Rex Harrison as Higgins. The 1964 film version starring Audrey Hepburn went on to win eight Oscars, and the show has remained one of the world’s favourite musicals ever since.
