Principal - Trudy Hindmarsh - BA PGCE

Trudy gained her English degree and teaching qualification from Sheffield University and Sheffield City College. Her full-time teaching career has been long and varied and she has taught English and Drama in secondary education and been a senior teacher, responsible for English and Special Needs in primary education. She has had experience with the full Stagecoach age range of 4 to18 year olds during that time. Trudy has written, produced and directed a number of children’s shows during her career. Trudy has won five awards for her work with Stagecoach - at local, regional and national level.

Drama, Singing and Early Stages Coach - Caterina Rea

Caterina is currently working as a professional singer on the North East circuit and is teaching singing privately. She was trained at Middlesbrough College where she gained an NVQ in Popular Music and a Grade 8 in Singing. Cat has worked as a session singer with a NE radio DJ and has signed a contract to write and perform her own album. Caterina has singing in the genes because her uncle is the well-known singer from Middlesbrough – Chris Rea.

Drama and Early Stages Coach - Philip Harrison

Philip was trained at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts, London. He is a professional actor with credits such as ‘Heartbeat’, ‘Byker Grove’ and ‘Emmerdale’. For ten years he has been heavily involved with Cleveland Theatre Company, based in Darlington Arts Centre, which is widely held to be one of the premier children’s theatre companies, nationally. Philip has worked for, and with, children in a wide variety of workshops and performances and has won a national playwriting competition for a play for young children. Philip is a fully qualified stagefight trainer.

Drama Coach - Lucy Wray

Lucy taught with us for a long period, before she had her family, as Lucy Heritage and has now returned to us at Middleton St George, as Lucy Wray. Before the birth of her two children, Lucy was the Head of Drama at Nunthorpe Comprehensive School in Middlesbrough. She trained in Communication Arts and Drama at The University of St John’s Ripon and York. She gained her PGCE at Durham University and is now a drama consultant for other Drama teachers in mainstream schools and also an examiner in Drama for the EDEXCEL examining board.

Drama Coach - Hannah Olszowksi BA(Hons)

Hannah is currently heading up the drama department at Bydales Comprehensive in Marske. Before that she worked at Hallgarth School in Middlesbrough, as a performing arts facilitator; here she acted both as a teacher and a worker on outreach into junior schools. Hannah gained a BA (Hons) in Performance Art at the University of Sunderland and also gained Performing Arts qualifications from Newcastle College.

Singing, Dance and Early Stages Coach - Janie Lavelle

Janie trained at the Rambert School of Ballet in London. She has danced professionally with many famous names, in variety shows, summer seasons and pantomimes in this country and abroad in Spain, Italy, Germany and Switzerland. Janie has also worked as principal dancer/singer on board ship on cruise liners. Janie teaches, and has taught, at a number of other Stagecoach schools in the region as both Early Stages and main school dance teacher.

Singing and Early Stages Coach - Sue Capes

Sue studied for her diploma at Stockton and Billingham Technical College. She has gained Grade 8 piano and the same for singing, Grade 7 organ and Grade 6 violin. Sue has taught piano playing from the age of seventeen and has taught singing in several primary schools in the Stockton area, where she has gained Grade 1 teacher status in several Ofsted inspections. Sue has personally sung in competitions, festivals and concerts. Sue teaches singing in four Stagecoach main schools and to associated Early Stages classes.

Singing Coach - Nicola Lycett BMUS

Nicola has a Bachelor of Music degree from Birmingham University and also gained her post-graduate teaching qualification from the University of Durham. Nicola has received vocal training from the Birmingham Conservatoire and has sung in a wide variety of choirs both locally and nationally. Nicky has gained Grade 8 in voice, flute and piano and is also trained in musical theory, organ and violin. She currently teaches music at Conyers School in Yarm, where she has established several choirs. Nicky also has her own boys' choir in Darlington and is a vocal tutor for Platform.

Dance and Early Stages Coach - Kate Ruddick

Kate was trained at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts, London. Whilst there, she also did some training with the English Dance Company and the London Comtemporary Ballet School. Once qualified, she danced professionally in Israel, Paris and on cruise ships. She is the Principal of her own Stagecoach school in Bishop Auckland and has been a choreographer for our regional Stagecoach entertainment troupe.

Dance and Early Stages Coach - Claire Monaghan

Claire has been very well trained as a dancer, having qualified with The London Studio Centre and having also done some training with the Laban Centre in London. Before that she studied Musical Theatre at Teesside Tertiary College. Claire has been a teacher of dance for The Dance Society in London and for six months has been involved in choreography for Emma Bunton of "Spice Girls" fame. Claire has also toured in performance with the Jazz Dance Co.

Dance Coach - Deborah Jones

Deborah is a qualified dance teacher, who has had some training with the Yorkshire Dance Centre. She owned her own dance school in Northallerton and has been the choreographer for numerous school and community group shows. She has personally performed in many amateur musical productions and has recently been selected to direct such events. Deborah has gained grade 8 singing, grade 6 music theory and grade 5 piano. Deborah also teaches at Stagecoach Malton.

Early Stages Coach - Jane Jackson

Currently Jane teaches Sport and Dance to Primary children at Redhouse School, Norton, but for most of her 15 years as a Primary teacher, she has been a music specialist, actively involved in many shows. Jane plays violin and piano and has been interested in singing all her life. In her youth Jane was one of the original members of the World Youth Choir and has sung with them throughout Europe.
