Congleton & Macclesfield Dance Troupe

Talented dancers aged 10 and over are able to audition for the Dance Troupe who meet every few weeks in Macclesfield to work on technique and towards various performances.

Stagecoach also has a North West Regional Choir based in Chester. They are currently working towards a performance at Birmingham's Symphony Hall in June.

Performing in the West End

This term we were invited to perform at Her Majesty's Theatre, Haymarket. Rehearsals took place in class with all of Stage 3 and some of Stage 2 taking part. This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their talents on a West End Stage. The theme was The Wild West with music from Calamity Jane, Girl Crazy and a dance to The Devil Came Down to Georgia. Visit http://www.stagecoach.tv/home/video/252 for a behind the scenes look at this exciting day.

Deca Dance

The Stage 3 students at Stagecoach Congleton joined the Congleton & Macclesfield Dance Troupe for a performance titled 'When I Was 10' at the Regent Theatre, Hanley as part of the 010 Dance Festival. They danced to the song Jai Ho from the film Slumdog Millionaire rising to the challenge of some complicated and technically difficult choreography.

Morgan & Natasha chosen to appear on local stages.

Congratulations to 9 year old Morgan Picking who has been chosen to play the Son of McDuff in the forthcoming S4K performances of Macbeth at the Victoria Hall, Hanley.

Also 11 year old Natasha Prince who won a role in the New Victoria Theatre's production of The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe. The musical adaptation of this classic book will be running over the Christmas and New Year period.

Christmas Performances

As well as their usual classes, all Main School students are working hard towards our end of term performance of Guys and Dolls. This will be performed on Friday 11th December at Eaton Bank School.

The Early Stages class are working on 'Chilly Milly', a musical play about a magical snowgirl.

Exam Success

Congratulations to the all students who took part in the Trinity Guildhall Assessments in Musical Theatre. Each age group performed a medley of song, dance and drama which which was assessed by an examiner. Stage 1 worked on a piece based on the fairy tale King Grizzly Beard, Stage 2 performed an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland and Stage 3 performed a contemporary play 'The Awful Billy Smiff'. All of the students passed with high merits. Well done everybody!

Every year students are also offered the opportunity to study for LAMDA Examinations in Speech & Prose or Acting.

Stage Combat Workshop

All the students of Stagecoach Congleton enjoyed taking part in a Stage Combat Workshop given by Jean-Marc Perret of Cut and Thrust. They learnt safe techniques and got the chance to try out replica weapons. Jean-Marc also choreographed a fight scene for our end of term presentation 'Gladrags'.

Two Nights at the Opera

Once again children from Stagecoach Congleton have been asked to take part in the Ellen Kent Opera & Ballet International productions of Aida and Carmen this coming June. Four youngsters have been chosen to dance the part of slaves in Aida, with others taking part in the Triumphal March and also as children playing in Carmen.

In previous years Stagecoach children have sung in Tosca and acted in La Boheme. It is a wonderful opportunity to take part in a professional production with fantastic costumes and sets.

An Evening with Andy Abraham

A choir of thirty-three children from Stagecoach were asked to join X Factor star Andy Abraham on stage during his recent concert at Buxton Opera House to help him to sing his song Whenever. The children aged from just 6 years old up to 15 years had just over a week to learn the harmonies to the track and did a fantastic job. Andy called them "superstars in the making!"
