Drama Schools

Dance, drama & singing – discover the magic of performance

For students who love acting drama is always challenging, always imaginative and always enormously enjoyable! For any child with an interest in the performing arts there's no better opportunity to explore their own creativity, take their imaginations in new directions and build their confidence.

At Stagecoach drama is a vital part of our classes, although Stagecoach is not a traditional drama school. Unlike drama schools Stagecoach gives equal weight to acting, singing and dancing which presents students with the opportunity to learn and enjoy a wider range of performing skills.

By experiencing the three disciplines alongside each other, students at Stagecoach are able to get an invaluable sense of the skills needed in performance and how they relate to each other in a way they wouldn't necessarily experience at a drama school. This is because drama schools tend to focus on one aspect of drama training at a time, and it's not always possible for students who are looking to extend their skills across the three disciplines to see their work in context.

Drama schools often require that their students have previous stage experience, and stipulate that they have to audition before attending. At Stagecoach there are no entry auditions. All that we look for in new students is enthusiasm and the willingness to learn. Our staff members, who are all experts in their fields, are experienced in working with students of all ages and abilities.

At a traditional drama school students are likely to work in larger classes, whereas at Stagecoach class sizes are limited to fifteen students. This arrangement provides for an excellent working balance between individual tutoring for each student and the benefits that come from group collaboration.

Drama really is a fantastic way to build your child's confidence - principally because it encourages the use of the imagination and allows students to use their own creativity to a specific end. It enables students to see what they are capable of creating - performance wise - on their own initiative and with the input of those they're working with. The rewarding thing about drama is that ideas lead on from each other, and each person will have a fresh take on a situation or script. As everyone will be working together each person's contribution will be valuable and, for a student, seeing their initial idea grow and evolve into a successful performance or presentation will be incredibly rewarding.
