We often hear from visitors that Stagecoach Chesterfield and Dronfield is a happy, motivated performing arts school. All students are welcomed, regardless of past experience and everyone is encouraged to participate in the endless performance opportunities that we offer on a termly basis. We strive to give the very best learning experience in drama, dance and singing that is available. Our teaching team is fully committed to getting the best out of every single child.
Each child receives weekly tuition in performing arts using drama, dance and singing. The main aim of the classes is to encourage students to think creatively, develop their confidence and above all, have lots of fun. Parents comment on how Stagecoach has a positive impact on focus, behaviour and motivation outside of our classes.
We cover a wide variety of dance styles including but not limited to Jazz, Modern, Street Dance, Bollywood, Commercial and Lyrical. In drama, our curriculum includes improvisation, Comedy, Mask Work and Script Work to name but a few. In singing classes, children can expect to cover a wide range of repertoire from Musical Theatre, Pop, Folk, Jazz and even Opera!
These are an integral part of the Stagecoach training. All students participate in an annual show at our schools with costumes, lighting and microphones. This is often the highlight of the Stagecoach Chesterfield and Dronfield calendar.
We also take groups to perform at large scale theatres across the country. This year we have performed at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London, Peterborough, Cleckheaton, Torquay and Birmingham Symphony Hall. For the last three years we have also taken children to perform at Disneyland® Paris.
We are also approached by professional touring productions and provide children for various plays and pantomimes, most recently with Dani Harmer and Bobby Davro. We provide the children’s Opera Chorus for Ellen Kent Opera when they tour this region. One of our girls successfully auditioned to play Princess Fiona in the West End Tour of Shrek. 5 lucky Stagecoach Halifax students also sang with Robbie Williams at Leeds Arena! We also have many individual students successfully auditioning for parts in plays, musicals and commercials.
