Stagecoach Bury

A very warm welcome to Stagecoach Bury! We pride ourselves on our long standing reputation of delivering exceptional performing arts training in a caring and fun environment. Our base is the beautiful Met Theatre in Bury and this offers our students the incredible opportunity of learning and performing in a professional theatre. Myself and each member of my team are experienced perfomers and we love being able to share our knowledge and passion for performing with every single one of our students. Whether your child is displaying a natural flair for performing or just needs to develop their confidence we can definitely help. Please give me a call or send me an email. I am always happy to have a chat so that we can discuss your specific hopes and aims for your children and how we can assist in achieving them.

With over 700 theatre schools and more than 40,000 students worldwide, Stagecoach is the UK's largest network of part time performing arts schools for children. Since our inception in 1988, our singing, acting and dancing classes have helped to build the confidence of many thousands of children, as well as providing a springboard for some of the country's leading young performers. Every student participates in all three performing arts disciplines - drama classes, dance classes and singing classes - helping to develop confidence, physical awareness, communication and articulation - as well as being educational and lots of fun!

Weekly Classes

Early Stages (for ages 4-6 yrs)

Stagecoach Early Stages
Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.

(90 minutes each week)

Main Stages (for ages 6-18 yrs)

Stagecoach Main Stages
Main Stages classes are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing & drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. We believe in the potential of every child!

(3 hrs each week)

Further Stages (for ages 15+ yrs)

Stagecoach Further Stages
Our advanced musical theatre sessions give talented students the chance to extend their performance skills.  Through in-depth training and master classes, we help students to hone their skills in singing, dancing and acting.  We also give students the confidence to audition for theatre and vocational drama schools (if that is their goal) and make sure they are well prepared for interviews and auditions.

Fees in accordance with Main Stages.

Meet The Team

Principal - Jill Schoonjans

Jill has been a professional singer since the age of 16. In a vast and varied career, she has toured extensively with internationally acclaimed theatre productions such as ‘The Johnny Cash Roadshow’ (in which she starred as Johnny’s wife, June Carter) and Abba tribute ‘Mamma Mania’. She has performed at every major theatre in the UK as well as international stages, cruise ships and even the odd circus tent. Jill is from Manchester and began her career as a production vocalist at Granda Studios Tour where she also trained as a ‘Sooty’ puppeteer.

Jill also works as a theatre promoter and producer looking after Europe’s leading Elvis Presley theatre show ‘One Night of Elvis’ and she runs a touring pantomime company.

Over the years, Jill has taught drama, dance and singing to children of all ages and was an Early Stages Teacher for Stagecoach Macclesfield. She is thrilled and privileged to be principal of Stagecoach Bury.

‘For me the most important thing we do is to build confidence. I was quite a shy child but I developed an early love for performing. I’m very fortunate to have made a career doing something I love but whether our students become professional performers or not, they will gain creative courage that will benefit them in so many wonderful ways. Here at Stagecoach Bury, the students will be learning and flourishing whilst having fun and making friends.’
